Grand Pianos
Grand pianos have played an important part in the history and development of music since their earliest inception. Initially grand pianos would be exclusively found in the court rooms of European royalty where they would be used a source of entertainment. However, the potential and popularity of grand pianos was soon realised and they become more common instruments throughout Europe .
The influence of grand pianos on many celebrated classical composers is undeniable and there have been many highly acclaimed pieces of music written explicitly for grand pianos. Beethoven's numerous piano concertos and piano sonatas are very well known pieces written for grand pianos.
Grand pianos remain highly popular instruments to this day and there are many concerts where skilled pianists will play original compositions or recitals of classical piano concertos. There have also been numerous developments in the methods used to construct grand pianos and some changes in designed are also apparent. Smaller grand pianos intend to be used in peoples' homes are now available at a comparatively low cost and because of this grand pianos are no longer the reserve of the extremely wealthy. Digital grand pianos are also available now, making grand pianos more accessible to a many people as they are readily available from a number of musical instrument retailers.
